Prof. ANNIE CHANDY MATHEW (DIRECTOR)

A first rank holder at the BA, MA and MPhil University Examinations, she taught for 22 years at Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. Responsible for setting up the Communicative English Programme in College, she has presented several papers. She has served as a resource person for institutions like the Media Centre, St John’s Medical College Observation Team, the Bangalore University, Kathalok, FOCET and ELT. An educational activist, she headed a team involved in content creation and the editing of English Readers for Macmillan.

PROF. MARY MATHEW

A rank holder and gold medallist from the Bangalore University, she has been teaching English literature and Communication Skills at Mount Carmel College for the last 22 years. She has served as a text-book committee member and resource person for the Bangalore University. Her MPhil dissertation on the teaching of fiction with specific reference to Joseph Conrad’s ‘Heart of Darkness’ has become a benchmark for those teaching and studying this novel.

SURYAKUMARI DENNISON

Completed her MA in English from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi and her Diploma in English Studies from CIEFL. With over thirty years experience of teaching English Literature at Miranda House, Jesus and Mary College, New Delhi, Mount Carmel College and Bishop Cotton’s Girls High School, Bangalore, she is a prolific contributor of short stories, ‘middles’, educational pieces, poems and travel pieces to all the best known newspapers and magazines. Her interests include reading, music, films, theatre and travel.
 

GAYATRI RAO

Completed her BA (Hons) from JNC, her BEd from MES, Bangalore and taught at Bishop Cotton’s Girls High School, Bangalore International School and Mallya Aditi International before founding Lumbini for Preschoolers. She worked to design Value Education CDs for Schoolnet India and now works with the Vishwas Society for Mental Health as a Volunteer Counsellor, Treasurer and Director. She has also held the posts of Secretary, Treasurer and Chairperson of the Bangalore Metropolitan Ladies Circle No 5, and Publicity Convenor at the National Level.

ELIZABETH THOMAS

Elizabeth Thomas trained at H T A Madras in Copywriting and went on to work at the US Consulate Library there. The Senior Librarian at The Choice School (Cochin) for 12 years and the Co-Curricular Activities Coordinator, she edited the magazine of the Rotary Club of Central Cochin, was a News Reader on television and is now the Managing Director of a marketing company. She believes in trying everything she is passionate about.

KARUNA SIVASAILAM

Karuna completed both her bachelors and masters degree courses in English Literature from Stella Maris College, Chennai. While working for Cen-Cus Publications, New Delhi, she was freelancing for 'Target', a children's magazine and writing a series of travel articles for a popular women's magazine together with a regular feature called 'Karuna's Column' in a local women's journal. She specializes in business transcriptions and copy-edits theses, books, journals, brochures and manuals.

MEENAKSHI VARMA
